T<\/span>hese incomplete lists of arrested political leaders and human rights defenders since the takeover of absolute power by King Gyanendra in Nepal since 1 February 2005 were released by the Asian Human Rights Commission through a series of Urgent Appeals in February. Names have been recorded in the order they were received. Many cases remain unreported. Many of the arrested persons face imminent torture and forced disappearance.
